Department of Defense uses RapidCount System for Counter-Terrorism Drill

NEW YORK, NY - June 30, 2005 - Enterprise Air’s RapidCount system was recently utilized in a major Department of Defense counter-terrorism drill. The drill simulated an explosion and attack near the a critical defense department facility and tested many elements of preparedness, including the Enterprise Air RapidCount Mustering solution, which has been installed at several of the involved facilities since November 2004. The purpose of the drill was to evaluate the emergency response procedures for weakness.

During the drill, the RapidCount system was used to track the evacuation of more than 500 employees, contractors, and visitors to the facility. Volunteer operators of the system were given a one minute long training on the system use and operation before beginning to scan ID cards, which tracks personnel and updates missing persons lists. These volunteers were randomly picked from the population of facility employees.

Evacuees lined up and presented their badges, stopping for a maximum of three seconds each. The lines flowed smoothly with only barely perceptible delays. Of approximately 500 badges checked, only five of the were unreadable, due to the generally poor physical condition of those badges; in these cases another volunteer simply wrote down the SSN of the person and manually entered them to into the workstation at the command center.

This resulted in RapidCount performing with 100% coverage on checked-in personnel (number of missing persons reported by the system equaled the expected number of persons missing). This exercise demonstrated the speed, efficiency and accuracy of the RapidCount system.
